About

Hello! My name is Sumin Kim. I am a South Korean-born, Chicago-based international Interdisciplinary designer for improving the mental well-being of the world!

Through my intensive solo world travel, what I realized the most was people are unconsciously attracted to cuteness. Therefore, my artworks convey my belief in the aesthetic of cuteness and a sense of humor can be a good conversation starter. Despite their cute looking, all of my works contain dark subjects such as personal struggles, aging, death, racism, and other social problems we face.

I believe all people should take care of their mental health regardless of their mental status. Considering that it is unrealistic for most people to see a therapist often due to time and cost, I have been developing art therapy practices that people can do by themselves, either at home with art supplies or at art museums. I believe everyone deserves more happiness regardless of their mental status.

My life goal is for my art to give marginalized communities, including older adults, people with disabilities, and minority populations, a sense of belonging.

I hope you enjoy my works.

Have a magical day!

Warmly,

Sumin (she/her)
